The Housing Authority welcomes applications for all posted positions. All applicants for vacant positions within the Housing Authority of the County of Kern must complete an official Agency Employment application. Application packets are available at the Housing Authority Central Office at 601 – 24th Street, Bakersfield. You may also complete an application by clicking “Apply Here” in the left sidebar.
Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of an official application. However, applicants are encouraged to attach resumes and copies of any pertinent trainings and certificates to the official application. Any incomplete applications may be subject to rejection. Specifically, the section denoted as “Employment History” must be filled out completely. Writing “See Resume” in this section will not be acceptable. When your application is screened for eligibility to progress to the next phase of the selection process, only the information contained on the application form and in your resume will be considered. No assumptions will be made regarding your prior experience and/or education.

Individuals offered employment with the Housing Authority will be required to submit verification of citizenship or legal right to work in the United States.
VETERANS’ PREFERENCE
Veterans’ credit may be claimed by submitting suitable evidence of honorable discharge such as a DD214 or Certificate of Honorable Active Military Service or acceptable evidence of required military service at the time of filing an application. To be eligible, a veteran must have served at least 90 consecutive days during a war or state of armed conflict.
POST-OFFER PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS
Once an offer of employment has been made, you may be required to pass a background check and a medical and/or physical examination, including drug and alcohol testing. The cost of the examination is paid by the Housing Authority. Candidates are cautioned not to quit or give notice to present employers until all pre-employment screenings have been completed and passed.
