Achieving Homeownership

Erick Zamarripa enrolled in the Family Self-Sufficiency Program in November 2018, with only a part-time job as his sole source of income. Through his hard work and dedication, he met his FSS program goals and secured full-time employment by 2022.

Within five years of participating in the FSS Program, he and his spouse gained knowledge in financial literacy by completing all the My Financial Academy Courses, attending the Building Hope Conference, and Budgeting and Credit Counseling Workshops.

Erick had a dream of moving from assisted housing to becoming a homeowner. Upon receiving an invitation to attend the Housing Counseling & Home Ownership Workshops, he and his spouse were eager to participate. The workshops offered them the necessary guidance to kick-start their pursuit of their dream of owning a home.

Thanks to his hard work and determination, Erick achieved self-sufficiency. In August 2023, the Housing Authority provided assistance with the closing costs, allowing Erick to fulfill his dream of voluntarily moving out of public housing and purchasing his own home.
