Max Bacerra Scholarship Awards Program

Each year, the Housing Authority funds a scholarship awards program, now known as the Max Bacerra Scholarship Awards Program, through its discretionary funds. Since 2013, the Housing Authority expanded the program to all eligible Housing Authority residents and Section 8 participants thanks to the yearly contribution of the Housing & Opportunity Foundation of Kern. Applications for the program are made available in January of each year. Scholarships are to assist students with college, technical/trade school expenses for books, tuition, fees, transportation, etc. Students of any age may apply. Deadline to submit applications is May 1, 2026.
