Each year, the Housing Authority funds the Scholarship Awards Program through its discretionary funds. Since 2013, the Housing Authority expanded the program to all eligible Housing Authority residents and Section 8 participants thanks to the yearly contribution of the Housing & Opportunity Foundation of Kern. Applications for the Scholarship Awards Program are made available in January of each year; we are not accepting applications at this time. These scholarships are to assist students with college, technical/trade school expenses for books, tuition, fees, transportation, etc. Students of any age may apply.
- To be eligible to receive a scholarship, students must reside in a development managed by the Housing Authority of the County of Kern or be a participant of the Section 8 program.
- Students must be accepted for attendance at a college, technical/trade school or already be attending college, technical/trade school and submit proof of enrollment.
- Complete and submit a Housing Authority scholarship application with 2 letters of recommendation & transcripts.
